Getting Better!

The babies are doing well and getting better every day!

Kyle had his first doctor's appointment on Friday. His pedi said that he is looking good. He did hear Kyle's heart murmur too and said to make sure we follow up with the cardiologist. He also thinks that the murmur will heal its self. The doctor said Kyle is a tongue clicker - which is kind of cute, but affects his ability to suck and swallow. He showed us something to do to help Kyle learn to suck right. It seems to be helping as he isn't being so messy when he eats and is eating more.
He sleeps a lot during the day, and not too much at night. I think Grandma and Grandpa are holding him too much during the day while he's sleeping, so he thinks he should be able to be held all night too while he's sleeping.

Emily is doing better! The only thing she is hooked up to right now is a heart monitor - which all of the babies in the NICU are. She is doing well with her eating and keeping her blood sugar where it needs to be all by herself! The only issue she is still having is her body temp. Her "box" temp was lowered yesterday for most of the day because she was doing so well, but when I called this morning her nurse said they pushed it back up a little bit over the night because she was having a hard time keeping herself warm enough.
Before Emily can come out of her "box" she has to maintain her temp with the box set at 28*C for 24 hours. After she has done that, she will be put in an open air crib where she will need to maintain her temp for 24 to 48 hours - and then she will be able to come home! Currently her "box" is set at 29.5*C. Yesterday it was down to 28.5*C, but we also had her out for a long time when we were visiting. Hopefully today it will be able to be lowered down again and we can put some warmer clothes on her!
