Colby Update

Potty Training
Colby is pretty much completely potty trained. About two weeks after he started wearing underwear during the day, he started keeping his diaper dry at night at at rest time. So now he is in underwear 100% of the time!
The only down side to this is he uses it as an excuse to get out of bed during rest time. He often stands at his door yelling and if someone doesn't come help him go to the bathroom right away, he goes on the floor. He has started taking his pants and underwear off, so normally there is just a mess on the floor... but most of the time it's poop. :(

Allergies
After give days of the new dosages of allergy meds, Colby was still wheezing a lot and having a hard time catching his breathe, so I called the doctor back on Wednesday. She ordered a nebulizer for him and he's doing breathing treatments with albuterol. Currently we are doing both morning and night time treatments and it seems to be helping a great deal. The allergist said to to do two treatments a day or a week and then cut back to just night time treatments. Once we feel he's doing better, we can cut back to as needed.
He does really well with the treatments... he sits really still and holds his mask to his face. I think he likes watching the "smoke!"

Weight Gain
After his weight check in the beginning of April, we bought a scale so that we could check Colby's weight often at home. He is still very slowly gaining weight... according to our scale he's up about half a pound in the past six weeks!

Adventures in Potty Training

Last week Emily was having poop issues... as in she couldn't get it out. I talked to a nurse at our peds office a couple times throughout the week and it was thought that Emily had hemroids and constipation... on Friday I finally took her to the doctor and he said he didn't their there were any hemroids... just lots of poop backed up :(

He gave a bunch of suggestions as to how to best help Emily out. She has been wanting to poop on the potty lots (as has Kyle). We have a potty seat for the toilet that they have both been using. The doctor said that we needed to invest in a little potty... because it's easier to push out poop when your feet can touch the ground.

We haven't really been doing much as fair as potty training goes... we just let them sit on the potty when they ask. They both love the little potty and have used it lots the past couple days. We are just going to keep doing what we are doing and really not push potty training until the middle of the summer or so... but I have a feeling both kiddos might just potty training themselves.

This morning Emily woke up dry and asked to sit on the potty when I took her diaper off... she peed on the potty... and asked a couple times to sit on the potty throughout the morning... not once did she go in her diaper! The afternoon was a different story... but hey.. it's something :)

A Happier Mother's Day

Last year Mother's Day was a pretty rough day for me. We had been trying to get pregnant for so long and thought we finally made it all work.... but I started my period before church on Mother's Day and was pretty upset by it. Then when I got to church, there was a couple announcing their pregnancy, which as happy as I was for them, I made me more upset about not being pregnant. And then to top it off, someone (who had no idea we were trying to get pregnant) made a joke about me not being able to celebrate mother's day as a mother and that I needed to get working on that... or something along those lines. I think I stayed at church a total of 10 minutes and came back home and say and cried. It was a rough day...

This year on Mother's Day I get to hold my two wonderful little babies :) And celebrate their two month birthday!! (Don't worry... I'll post pictures later)

Kyle even got me a Mother's Day present - a poopy diaper :) I never thought I would be so excited about a poopy diaper - but when the little dude hadn't pooped for almost five days, it's something to celebrate for sure!!

Poop, Spit Up, Milk, and Big Boy Jammies

We have been having poopy issues this week. Kyle has not pooped since Tuesday. Yesterday afternoon he started trying and passing pretty smelly gas. It's normal for breastfed babies not to poop for a day or two sometimes, so I wasn't really concerned until he started trying to poop. I called the doctor this morning and they said that breastfed babies don't get constipated too often, but sometimes need a little help. The nurse told me a couple things to try, so we'll do that and see if it helps Kyle poop.

We have had less spit up between the two of them. We have been not letting them over eat and for the most part they are keeping their food down better. We are still having spit up every once in a while, but it's not every feeding anymore and when they do spit up, it's not as much as it was before.

My milk supply has gone crazy. Most of the time I am producing twice as much as what the babies eat when I pump! Hopefully it keeps up :)

Kyle has official outgrown newborn jammies! His newborn onsies and clothes still fit him, he's just too long for the jammies, so he's now wearing 0-3 months jammies - he's growing up so fast!
