One Year Old

Colby is one year old today! How did that happen??

I was trying to come up with something cute for his pictures... but he wanted to be in the chair... and only wanted to be in the chair! Silly kiddo!

Colby has developed a little personality. While he normally is very happy and laid back, he will let you know what he wants and went he wants it. Just ask Kyle and Emily when he tries to steal their toys.

Colby loves to give kisses. I'm pretty sure his favorite part of the day is giving night night kisses after we pray. He starts smacking his lips and gives everyone kisses. He also likes to try to climb into bed with Emily and Kyle and give them kisses!

Colby is slowly starting to help pick up toys. After we took pictures today, he helped me pick up almost all of the blocks! He also helps put his dirty clothes away every once in a while.

Colby still loves to climb on everything and anything that he can. And likes to stand up once he's climbed to a "high spot."

We are still trying to figure out this whole allergy thing, but so far on Colby's "no-no list" is dairy, oats, peanuts, tree nuts, tomatoes, and carrots.

Colby is still breastfeeding and I plan on continuing for a while in hopes that it will help some of his allergies go away. Currently he nurses three times a day most days and whenever he wakes up in the middle of the night.

A typical days...
7:00 am - Wake up, nurse, and then play with mommy and daddy until 8:00 (when Kyle and Emily get up)
8:15 am - Breakfast and then play, play, play
 10:00 am - snack
 Noon - Lunch
1:00 pm - nurse and then nap
Sometime between 2:00 and 4:00 wake up, have a snack and play, play, play
 5:30 pm - dinner
6:30 pm - baths and bedtime routine with Kyle and Emily
7:00 pm - nurse and then night night

Colby is still waking up once most nights to eat. Every once in a while he will sleep through the night and every once in a while he will wake up multiple times. I still think he really is hungry when he wakes up. He won't calm down for Brent if Brent goes in to try to get him to go back to sleep. If I do in and don't offer to nurse him, he does everything he can to latch on and eat. He normally will stay away for and eat for an hour or so, then unlatches and says "all done" and goes back to sleep.

Colby gabbers all day long, but says a few words. He says "mama," "dada," "ky," "all done," and "more."

Colby recognizes and knows who lots of people are. If you tell him to give kisses to Mommy, Daddy, Kyle, or Emily, he normally goes right over to who you tell him and gives them a kiss. He also recognizes grandparents, aunts, Ian, and a few people from church.

Colby loves to eat. Pretty much anything we put on his tray, he will stick in his mouth and eat! He likes it when he eats the same thing as everyone else. The past few days, he has wanted a bowl or plate on his tray just like everyone else. Sometimes he does okay eating from it, but often he ends up dumping his food on his try. I'd say his favorite food is noodles, normally covered in some sort of baby food.

Colby enjoys the water. He enjoys playing with the bath toys and splashing (even though he's not supposed to!). He also enjoys taking showers and playing in the water.

I'm not sure how he does it, but he doesn't seem to need as much asleep as Kyle and Emily. He goes to bed after them, wakes up before them, and most days only takes a short nap. I'm hoping as he gets old, he will start sleeping a little bit more!

Colby has really started to play with toys the past couple weeks. He sits with books in his lap and flips through the pages like he is reading them. Yesterday he pushed a toy car down the hallway saying "vroooom" like has seen his brother and sister do many times. He loves the ride on and walk behind toys as well. He also loves to play with the iPad... His favorite game is pee-a-boo and will play with anyone (or anything) he can!

He is very ticklish and we love to hear his big belly laughs. It doesn't take to get him laughing!

Colby is such a blessing to our family and brings us all lots of joy and smiles! It's crazy how fast his first year as gone! We are looking forward to many more years with this little guy!

To celebrate Colby's birthday...

We had homemade (allergy free) chocolate donuts!

Went to the bounce house!

And had special treats! (So Delicious Dairy Free Ice Cream Bars)
