Thankful Tree

We celebrated Thanksgiving all month long with a Thankful Tree! Each night, Emily, Kyle, Brent, and I all wrote something we were thankful for on a leaf and added it to the tree! Brent and I tried to do something new every night, but we let the kids do whatever, so they did have a couple duplicates. We loved doing this and I'm pretty sure it is going to be a yearly tradition in our family!

Colby didn't participate this year, but if he had, I'm pretty sure his leaves would have said "Mommy," "Boob," "Daddy," "Kyle," "Emily," and "Socks"! :)

Ten Months Old!

Our little dude is just two months shy of being a year old!

Colby has one tooth!

Colby is walking... and walking... and walking... At home, he walks and walks. But when we are out and about, he typically only takes a few steps at a time. Colby also likes to climb. He can get himself on the couch easily. Once, I left him in the living room for a moment to go to the bathroom and when I came back, he was sitting on the TV stand....

Colby is wearing mostly 9 month clothes and should be wearing a size 3 shoe (his shoes are size 4, but a little too big!).

Colby has gotten in a good habit of pretty much sleeping through the night. We try to do bedtime around 7pm (although, this hasn't really been happening lately because we've been busy...). At bedtime, he typically nurses for about an hour and then sleeps until 4ish, eats for a bit, and then goes back to sleep until 8am or so most days! It would be nice to drop that 4am feeding too... but one "middle of the night" feeding is better than two, so I'll take it!

Colby seems to enjoy eating real food. It's been a while since he's been excited about being spoon fed, so we have been putting his baby food in reusable pouches. He's gotten pretty good about feeding himself with the pouches. We've also been doing finger foods for a while. In the past week, we've introduced bread (which he loves!) and have also started giving him whatever everyone else is eating if it is something that he can easily pick up and mush with his gums. He's had bananas, sweet potato bites, cheese-a-dias, chicken chili, turkey, bread, and I'm sure other stuff that I'm forgetting.

Colby enjoys talking and singing. He says (and waves) "Hi" and "Bye". He babbles often and at church or in the car will sing along. He says "mama," "dada," and "kyky" clearly, and then a bunch of other sounds that kind of sound like that could be words, but I'm not really sure.

Colby is always very interested in what Kyle and Emily are doing. He loves to play along with them... sometimes they love it and other times, not so much.

Colby knows what the word "No" means. Most of the time if he's doing something he's not supposed to be and is told no, he will stop.... for at least a moment! :)

Most days, he just takes one nap. If we have a long car ride in the morning, he'll typically fall asleep. But if we are just home or out and about, the kiddo is content being awake and looking around and playing. Normally he takes about a two hour nap in the afternoon.

Colby still loves his mommy milk! He normally nurses around 4am, 8am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 7pm. When he nurses and the crazies are sleeping, he normally nurses for 30 to 60 minutes. When the crazies are being crazy, it's normally only for a few minutes.  I think finally after 10 months, my supply actually matches his needs and I'm finally to the point where I'm not in pain if I don't pump everyday! He normally eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner with Kyle and Emily too!

Colby is very good at drinking water from sippy cups. He has a few of his own... but he also loves to drink from Emily and Kyle's cups. We have to be careful to keep their milk cups away from him. Last week, he got a drink of Emily's milk and almost instantly threw up... I really hope this isn't a sign of what's the come when we start whole milk in a few months.

While Colby is a very social baby and loves interacting with people, he is still very much a mommy's boy!

And.... he's cute :)

First Snow!

When the kiddos woke up from naps, it was snowing! So they got on their snow gear and went for a snow walk!

And yes... if you were wondering, it's the same snow gear they had last year... it still fits!
