Two and A Half Years Old!

I can't believe Emily and Kyle are already two and a half! They are growing up way to quickly!

Kyle and Emily speak in almost complete sentences. It's possible to have real conversations with them now! Their vocabularies are growing and growing and growing. They learn new words everyday and are always amazing me with how much they know.

Emily and Kyle recognize most of their letters and know whose names start with what letters. They recognize their names when written out. They can say their ABC's through the letter J if they are doing them they themselves, but can get pretty much all the way through if they have a little bit of help.

Emily and Kyle can count to 10 by themselves, but don't recognize any numbers. When you ask them how many there are of something, they normally respond "two." But if you help them count, they can come up with the right number.

Kyle and Emily are pretty much potty trained during the day. Between the two of them, we normally only have one or two accidents a week when we are at home. The number of accidents tends to go up when we are busy and the kiddos forget about needing to go to the bathroom. We give them reminders often, but aren't making them sit on the potty as often as we were. They both have gotten very good about telling us when they need to go potty. Both of them will also go in and sit on the potty by themselves when they need to go... but they do need help pulling up their pants. During nap time, we are still using training underwear. Most of the time Emily wakes up from naps dry, but Kyle is still hit or miss. At night, both are still wearing diapers. They are both starting to wake up dry more and more.

Schedule wise things are pretty much the same. The kiddos wake up (get out of bed) when their clock turns on at 8am. Normally around 8:30 or so, they eat breakfast and then play. We do a snack around 10am. Around noon, the kiddos eat lunch and then go down for naps around 1pm. Most days that naps for two or three hours still. After naps, they have a snack and play until dinner time. We eat dinner around 5:30 and then the kiddos go to bed around 7:00 or a little bit after.

Last week, Kyle figured out he could climb in and out of his crib by himself with his monkey on. So we decided that we would convert their beds to toddler beds. They have both done very well with the transitions. Most of the time we are both excited to get into bed for naps or bedtime. They both have also done a good job of staying in bed when they are supposed to. I'm thankful for how easy of a transition this has been... I was expecting a fight, but have been pleasantly surprised! Big kid beds also means no more monkeys!

Emily and Kyle both LOVE TV and movies and will watch as much as we will let them! We try to limit how much they watch and try to be careful about what we let them watch. Their favorite TV shows are Little Einsteins, Sid the Science Kid, Curious George, and Dinosaur Train. Their favorite movies are Cars and Monsters. They both also love Thomas the Train... even though I think they've only seen one or two episodes, but they do have several Thomas the Train toys and LOVE them. They also love Elmo, even though they very rarely watch Elmo.

Kyle and Emily love playing with the iPad. They know which folders their apps are in and both have their favorites. They tend to favorite the puzzle apps when they aren't watching a video.

Emily and Kyle seem to enjoy their two year old class at church. It's more structured than the nursery.. they do lessons, have snack, make a craft, and play. Normally they are very excited to go to their class on Sunday mornings.

Kyle and Emily LOVE puzzles. They have several and are very good at putting them together.

They also love books. They like to pretend to read books. They also enjoy sitting in laps and being read too. If you read to them, they will be your friend! :)

Emily and Kyle still love having a baby brother! They both love to give Colby hugs and kisses. They aren't too sure about him being able to steal their toys now, but they've gotten good at getting him his own toy to try to keep him from stealing theirs! They are also both good helpers when it comes to getting diapers or other things that Mommy needs for Colby!

Leaving the house is getting to be easier! Kyle and Emily can both easily walk up and down the stairs (although Kyle has been wanting to be carried the past few days). They also can get in and out of the van by themselves. They can climb into their carseats and do part of their buckles by themselves! Emily and Kyle do very well in parking lots most of the time. They love to help "push" the cart if we run to the store quick without Daddy.

Emily and Kyle know their milk comes from cows and Colby's milk comes from Mommy!

Emily and Kyle know where we are going if its somewhere we go often... even if we don't tell them. They know the way to church. They know the way to Grandma and Grandpa Eubank's house and Grandma and Grandpa Franks' house.

Emily loves her baby doll. She loves to play with her baby. She caries her baby around. She feeds her baby (breastfeeds her). She changes her baby. She puts her baby down for naps. It's pretty cute.

Emily is wearing mostly 18 month clothes. Most of the pants have finally started to stay up on her!

Emily finally got the rest of her "baby" teeth! She hasn't gotten any molars yet though.

Kyle loves to carry around his Thomas trains. He puts them in a bag... or a hat... or whatever else he can.. and carries them around the house.

Kyle is wearing mostly 24 month clothes. His pants fall down most of the time if we don't have his clips on to help hold them up.

Kyle has his two two year molars, but not bottom ones yet.

I asked the kids each 21 questions. I plan on asking them these same questions every six months to see how their answers change...
