Watching the Olympics With Daddy

We normally don't let Emily and Kyle watch very much TV... normally only about 15 minutes a day... if that... But the Olympics are special :)

Double Ear Infections

Emily and Kyle started to get runny noses on Monday and Emily was running a fever on and off. I figured they were just cutting some more teeth.

Tuesday Emily seemed to have more congestion and started to get a little cough.

Wednesday, Mommy woke up all congested and had a sore throat. Kyle seemed to be starting to feel better, but Emily was very clingy and whiny all day.

This morning, Emily woke up and SCREAMED for 45 minutes. After some Tylenol, she finally calmed down and fell asleep in my lap. When she woke up, she was screaming again... so I called the doctor to see if she could be seen.

Mommy guessed right... Emily has a double ear infection and gets to take pink bubble gum medicine for 10 days. Kyle's a little jealous of the medicine (he cried when I gave it to Emily and he didn't get any), but I think he would rather do without the medicine because that means no ear infections for him.

Hopefully our little miss will feel better soon!

Doctor's Appointment

I had a prenatal appointment yesterday. Everything went well.
My blood pressure was back to normal.
I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
The baby's heart rate was 168 bpm.

My doctor hesitantly changed my due date to go along with my dating ultrasound. She said that it was right at the cut off point where they change due dates and was even more hesitant because of how big my uterus felt... but she changed it for now. My new due date is February 8th.

I'm having another ultrasound next Friday.

Because the Zofran hasn't been completely helping with my nausea, gave me two other anti-nausea meds to try in coordination with the Zofran. I picked them up this morning, so we'll see. I haven't been throwing up as much the past week... I just constantly feel like I am going to throw up, which is no fun.

She also prescribed a prenatal cradle belt for me. She said that I'm probably going to need the extra support because of the fact I broke my back nine months ago.

Buckets!

Emily and Kyle LOVED their ice cream bucket... and now they finally have two!

They make good seats

And crash helmets

Even the lids are fun to pay with!

What happens when Kyle steels the bucket from Emily??

Unexpected Visit to the Doctor

On Sunday afternoon I started to get a headache. By the time we were ready for bed, it was a bad headache. I took some Tylenol PM and hoped that I would feel better in the morning. No such luck. Yesterday morning I work up with an even worse headache. By 9am, I was in LOTS of pain, throwing up, dizzy, seeing spots, and all that fun stuff. I just laid in bed and hoped that I would feel better. Around lunch, I felt a little bit better, so I didn't call the doctor. After Emily and Kyle woke up from their naps and I started running around playing with them, I felt really bad again. I called my OB's office and spoke with a nurse. She told me some things to try and said to call back in the morning if I wasn't feeling better.
This morning, I wasn't feeling better... so I called and they had me come in for an appointment.
My blood pressure was REALLY high, but my urine was negative for other signs of preeclampsia. Because of the negative urine test, the doctor was pretty sure that I was just having a bad migraine and the pain from the migraine was causing my blood pressure to be so high. They gave me some shots (because I was having trouble keeping anything down) and sent me home. Told me to give them a call if I wasn't feeling better. By the time I got home, I was feeling a lot better!
I go back next Tuesday for my normal check-up, so they will recheck my blood pressure and urine then. Hopefully my blood pressure will be back to normal!

I have to say I am very happy with the OB's office I choose. The office I was at for my last pregnancy... it seemed like any time I had problems, they just sent me over to the OB triage at the hospital. I LOVE the fact that this office wanted to see me first. They did tell me that might send me to the hospital after they saw me, but they wanted to see me first to determine if I really needed to go to the hospital. That makes me happy!

A House and Ministry Update

Bank of America has had our offer since April... and we still haven't received an answer if they are going to accept it or not! Originally the offer expired the end of June, but the buyer extended it until the end of July. We learned yesterday that our appraisal and approval to participate have expired.. but no one is really sure what that means. Our attorney's office is diligently trying to talk to someone at the bank that can give us answers, but so far, all they get is voicemails and no one ever calls back. We're hoping to hear back soon... but not really counting on it.

We do have some exciting news in our ministry search. Brent had a phone interview a couple weeks ago with a church in Ohio. The phone interview went well and the church seems to be the type of church we are looking for. They called last week and invited us to come down for a visit and an in person interview. We are going the first weekend in August!
