Getting Ready to Move

We've been busy packing and cleaning.... Kyle and Emily aren't too sure about everything getting packed up! They are enjoying the extra play places...

Kyle is concerned that we aren't going to take my breast pump with us... He wants to make sure that he still keeps getting the "good milk."

Kyle's One Year Cardiologist Appointment

We had Kyle's one year check up with his cardiologist today. There really isn't anything to report. Everything with his murmur still looks good. It's still there and appears to be the same size, but continues to be asymptomatic, so it's nothing to worry about.
Kyle did very good being still for his echo and EKG. I was very proud him!

Emily and Kyle also had a great time playing with the toys in the waiting room and walking around the office!

One Down Two To Go

Yesterday we finally gave Emily and Kyle a full sippy cup of just Whole Milk! Kyle drank most of his and Emily drank about half of hers! I think we are officially down to just two bottles of breast milk a day!

The past week or so Emily hasn't been eating for drinking as much as normal. I think it's because of her ear infection. Last night at dinner she ate a ton and she did well with breakfast this morning, so I think she is finally getting her appetite back.

We are going to leave things as they are bottle wise for now. We'll keep giving Emily and Kyle their morning and bedtime bottles of breast milk for another couple weeks. Once we getting settled in Michigan and adjusted to a new home and a new work schedule for Brent, then we'll start working on replacing the other two bottles. I don't want to throw too much change at them at once.

One Year Well Visits

Today Emily and Kyle had their one year well visits!

Emily weighs 14 lbs and 12 oz (3rd percentile) and 27 1/4 inches tall (4th percentile).

Kyle weighs 17 lbs and 15 oz (3rd percentile) and 30 1/4 inches tall (59th percentile).

Both toddles are doing everything they should be doing developmentally. The doctor their weighs being so low isn't really a big deal; they both look health and don't look malnourished. He said in the next couple months they should start gaining a little better as their bodies get used to all their activity. He said to just keep doing what we are doing. He also said that our plan for transitioning to whole milk is great!

The only "bad new" is that Emily has an ear infection. She hasn't been feeling well the last couple days and I would have called today to take her in if we hadn't already had an appointment. She got some pink bubble gum medicine, so hopefully tomorrow she'll start feeling better.

Also, because of Emily being sick, we held off on shots. We are going to go back next Friday to get shots.

We're Moving!

It's been a while since I've done an update on the "big stuff"... and we have exciting news, so I thought now would be a great time for an update!

We still haven't sold our house. We've had several different people interested, but no one has actually come through and submitted an offer. We are officially listed as a short sale with Bank of America and everything has been approved, so we really are just waiting for an offer. Everything finally went through in January and we have until May 25th to sell our house or we will go into foreclosure. Hopefully we will have a buyer in the next two months, but we're not getting our hopes up.

We currently are not talking to any churches. Brent is still searching and looking at job postings and church websites on a regular basis.

When we were in Michigan last week, Brent had an interview for a warehouse job in Holt. It's not ministry, but it's something that would get us close to our families! Yesterday we found out that Brent got the job! So we are moving back to MICHIGAN!!!

We are planning on moving the first week of April. Brent gave his two weeks last night at Pat's and gave his two weeks today at Primos. My parents are going this afternoon to look at an apartment in Mason for us, so hopefully they will think we'll like it and everything will work out with that. We are still trying to figure out for sure what day we are going to head back to Michigan for sure, but we are thinking it will most likely be April 6th (Good Friday). My Mom and Mike are going to come out here and help us load up a moving truck and Mike will drive the truck back to Michigan for us. Brent's mom is planning on coming out to help us pack up and such too! We are still trying to work out the details. First we are trying to find a place to live and then we'll start to work on the other stuff.

Day Two with Whole Milk = Small Success

Today I didn't give Kyle and Emily any milk with lunch (which is normal). When it came time for their afternoon bottle, I gave them each a sippy cup with 3oz of whole milk and 5 oz of breast milk. Emily sucked it right down. Kyle threw a fit at first because he wanted a bottle, but eventually he drank it all!

I think I am going to stick with this for a couple days and once both of the toddles are doing well with it, I'll start to give them a little less breast milk and a little more whole milk.

Once they are drinking only whole milk in the afternoon, then we'll start to work on either their morning or night time bottle. I haven't decided yet which of those will be the first to go.

First Attempt at Whole Milk = Fail!

We decided to wait until we got back from Michigan to start trying to switch Emily and Kyle over to whole milk from breast milk. Today was our first full day home, so I figured why not start today....

Currently they are drinking three bottles of breast milk a day. One first thing when they wake up, one in the afternoon, and one at bedtime. Throughout the day they drink plenty of water from sippy cups.

We figured the easiest bottle to get rid of would be the afternoon bottle. So, at lunch time I gave them a sippy cup of whole milk. At first, Kyle sucked down about an ounce of it and Emily made faces after trying a sip. They really weren't too sure what to think of it and didn't seem all that interested in drinking it after their initial taste. I figured we would try again just before snack time, when they normally have their bottle... they normal don't have anything to drink with their meals...

Just before snack time, they both started to look for their bottles, so I gave them their sippy cups with the whole milk in them. Kyle and Emily both laid down and drank a little bit. When they realized it wasn't breast milk, they switched sippy cups. It was like they thought the other one had the "good stuff." After they both realized that both sippy cups had whole milk in them, they threw the cups at me and walked over to their dresser (where their bottles normally are sitting) and reached up and said "baba baba baba" and then started whining when they realized there weren't any bottles up there. I gave them their sippy cups back and tried to get them to drink more of the whole milk, but they both refused.

After about 10 minutes, I went downstairs and got their bottles of breast milk...

Tomorrow... we shall try again...

Michigan Day #8

We spent our last day in Michigan at MEPS sending Aunt Kara off to boot camp for the US Navy!
