Big Kid Car Seats

Mommy and Grandpa installed our big kid car seats in Mommy's car today. We went for a ride to visit Daddy at work and seemed to enjoy riding and being able to see out the window!

A Sick Little Girlie

On Wednesday night Emily threw up right after I put the babies to bed. Then she seemed fine. Friday at dinner time she threw up again, but then seemed fine. After she went to sleep, she was crying in her sleep for a little while and eventually woke her self up. She cuddled and went back to sleep, but was acting like she didn't feel good. She sounded congested, but most of it was in her chest. She slept on and off through out the night; she just wanted to be held. She had a low grade fever, so I gave her some tylenol; which she just threw right up. All day yesterday (Saturday) she just wanted to held.  She took some long naps and wasn't too interested in eating or playing. In the afternoon, her congestion moved from her chest to her nose, which seemed to make her feel a little bit better. We had another rough night last night, but today she seemed like she was starting to feel better. She hasn't had a fever all day and was eating and playing. She still is very congested, so we keep using the blue bulb to suck buggies from her nose. Hopefully she'll have a better night tonight and will be all better tomorrow!

Please pray for us! Pray for Emily to get healthy and for Kyle, Mommy, and Daddy to stay healthy. It seems like whenever one of the babies get sick, we all end up getting it. I really hope that doesn't happen this time!

Because of Emily being sick, we did not go to church this morning. We were planning on visiting the church I talked about a couple days ago, but didn't want to put Emily in the nursery with all her germs. We thought about still going and just keeping Kyle and Emily in the service with us, but they are at a stage where that is close to impossible to do. Brent e-mailed the pastor to let him know what was going on. He understood and we are now planning on visiting on December 4th.

We Got A Big Ol' Zero!

Kyle went today for a helmet adjustment. As always, they did his head measurements... and the difference between the right side and the left side... ZERO! We were told when we got the helmet, that most of the time they can get it to 1/4 inch difference, but not to expect much more than that! So a ZERO is pretty much amazing! Kyle has a perfectly round head!

There seems to be some questions about how much longer Kyle is in the helmet. We have been told three different things by three different people. First we were told that he would only be in the helmet for a couple weeks after his head was "fixed". Then we were told that once his head was "fixed" he would only wear the helmet at night. And today we were told that he would keep wearing it until his first birthday. We got back again in three weeks for another adjustment, so we'll see what they say then and also schedule an appointment with the neurosurgeon to get the official answer!

A Ministry Door Open?

One day last week Brent got a phone call from the pastor at a church about fifteen minutes from us. Their church is looking for a new youth pastor and the pastor was given Brent's name. He asked if Brent would be willing to send him his resume and cover letter. Brent e-mailed it to him and a little while later, they had a breakfast meeting set up.
This morning Brent had breakfast with the pastor and really enjoyed talking to him; getting to know him a little bit and getting to know a little bit about the church and the ministry that takes place there. The pastor asked if we would come visit the church on Sunday to see what it's like and if it's a place we would be interested in serving.
Please pray for us and we explore this possible opportunity and seek to see if it's God's will or not.

Mommy Went to the Doctor

I had my follow up visit for the neurosurgeon today. My back looks "good." The fractures are not any worse, which is what we were hoping for. Apparently, the doctors can't tell at this point if they are any better, so the doctors look for the fractures not to be any worse... I guess that kind of make sense :)
The treatment plan for now is to

  • wear my brace less. He explained that when I wear my brace, it holds my back straight and stuff and doesn't allow my muscles too. So I need to start wearing my brace less so that my muscles will start doing their job again.
  • go to physical therapy three times a week for six weeks. I start next Monday.
  • still follow the rule "if it hurts, don't do it"
I'm doing okay picking up Kyle and Emily and carrying them around the house. I have a little bit of trouble getting them in and out of their cribs, but I have figured out ways to make it work. I still can't carrying the babies in their car seats, so if I have to go somewhere by my self, I will have to put the seats in the car and then put the babies in their seats.

The other big thing that happened today.... the babies had a babysitter! They have stayed with grandmas a couple times while they have been sleeping, but we have never left them with anyone during the day before while they were awake and active! Our friend April (who has lots of experience with multiples) babysat for us while Brent was at work and I went to the doctor. The babies did well... and mommy too (I didn't have any problem leaving them)! Kyle was still awake when I got home and was very happy to see me. And Emily had a big smile on her face when she woke up from her nap and saw me! That made my day :)

Today we went to visit Brent at work for lunch. The babies sat in highchairs and ate their sweet potatoes. Then while I was eating, I gave them each a little piece of the chicken from my hoagie. They both gobbled it right up, so I got Brent to give me a slice of the chicken (I didn't want to give them too much of mine because I had spicy cheese on my hoagie) for the babies.... and together, they ate almost the whole thing. Little piggies :)

Christmas Plans

Just so everyone in Michigan knows what's up with us for Christmas...
Thursday afternoon - leave DE and drive to Battle Creek
Friday - Spend the day with Brent's family
Saturday - Cary Family Christmas, drive to Williamston, Johnson Family Christmas
Sunday - Spend the day with Keyla's Family
Monday - Hang out with whoever shows up at my mom's house, leave MI in the late afternoon to drive back to DE
I know we are going to be there very long, but we really can't afford to stay any longer....Brent doesn't get paid vacation days, we any time he's not working, that's less money that we have to pay our bills with... So considering that and the fact that it costs money to get home, we figured that this plan is the best we can do.

  • Is starting to willingly spend more time on her tummy
  • Loves to sit and stand
  • Will take steps if she is standing and holding someone's hands
  • Can hold her self up standing at the couch or ottoman
  • Wearing size 3-6... some 3 month stuff fits her, but most is too small... and some 6 month stuff her, but most is too big

  • Drinking one 9oz bottle and four 6oz bottles a day
  • Likes to drink water from mommy cup

  • Will take steps if he is standing and holding someone's hands
  • Can hold him self up standing at the couch or ottoman
  • Wearing some 3-6, some 6 month, and some 6-9 month clothes - with him is really depends on what the item of clothing is and what brand it is
  • Eating three meals a day
  • Drinking one 9oz bottle and four 7oz bottles a day

For their three meals
Breakfast - yogurt and fruit or cereal and fruit
Lunch - a veggie, and then if they are still hungry, a fruit

Sleep...or Lack of...

For about two weeks before the time change, Emily and Kyle were doing awesome with their sleeping!
They were...
8am - Wake up, drink bottle, play
9am - Eat breakfast
10am - Finish bottle and take a nap
Noon - Wake up and eat lunch, then play
1:30pm - drink bottle
2:30pm - Nap
4pm - Wake up, drink bottle, play
5pm - Eat Dinner
6pm - Bath, jammies, bottle, bedtime
11pm - drink bottle and right back to sleep

We were really hoping that the time change wouldn't throw them off their schedule too much, as Sundays are normally weird anyways because of church being during morning naptime. But we were wrong... we are still feeding them around the same times, but they are waking up earlier (and all throughout the night) and just not seeming to be sleeping as well.

Hopefully soon we will get back to normal....

34 Weeks 1 Day Old

Yeah.... we forgot to take pictures yesterday....
