The past couple days, Kyle and Emily have really started to show an interested in playing with toys. They have an elephant and a lion that they like to play with. They also have a camel and moose that are similar that they like... and they have teddy bears they like to cuddle with.
We use swaddles (baby straight jackets) Kyle and Emily for naps and bedtime. We have been using the Summer brand Swaddle Me's, but Kyle has pretty much outgrown his and Emily has figured out how to escape. Today I got the Halo Sleep Sack Swaddles. They are bigger, can be wrapped tighter, and are nice because they have the option have not having their arms wrapped for when they get a little bit bigger and roll over. (It's not safe to swaddle a rolling baby.)

The babies have been sleeping less and less during the day and are getting harder to wake up at night when it's time to eat. So we thought we would give sleeping a little longer through the night a try. We had been feeding the babies at 6:00pm, 9:00pm, and midnight and then letting them sleep until they work up. Normally they woke up between 6:30am and 7:00am. Last week when I was home by my self (now three nights a week), I fed them around 7:00pm and then waited until Brent got home around midnight to feed them again. This seemed to work well too and they would sleep until 6:30am or 7:00am. On Thursday night we feed them at 6:00pm and then at 10:00pm, then they slept until almost 7:00am. We thought that we nice:) Last night we tried the same thing again, but they work up at 4:00am wanting to eat... so I think we are going to stick to the midnight feeding for another week or so and then they it again - I do not want to make waking up at 4:00am a habit!
They have been doing good with naps during the day. When they wake up between 6:30am and 7:00am, eat and then hang out in our bed for a while. Normally Brent falls asleep and I pay with the babies for a little bit, then go to sleep to. They typically fall back asleep in our bed around 8:00am and sleep until 9:00am or 9:30am. We feed them again and then play and get ready for the day. Around 10:30am or so, the babies go back to sleep and and have been sleeping until 12:30pm or 1:00pm. I just let them sleep until they are ready to wake up - and normally as soon as one of them is awake, the other one is too (it's like they are twins or something). We eat again and then play until we get cranky and go back down for another nap. Then they will normally eat again around 3:30pm, play for a while, and then take another nap. If they are not awake by, 7:00pm, I wake them up and feed them, otherwise I feed them when they wake up. We play until Kyle and Emily start to get whiny, and then go back down for another nap. Around midnight, we get the babies out of bed and feed them. Sometimes they wake up and eat, and other times they eat while sleeping. We read the bible and pray with the babies and then put them back to bed for the night... and then it starts all over again in the morning.

Over the past couple days I have been trying the "fast flow" nipples on the bottles. Kyle seemed to take right off on them and it took Emily a time or two to catch on to the faster flow of milk. I have no officially put away all of the "slow flow" nipples and the babies have the "fast flow" on all of their bottles! Kyle and Emily have seemed to eat faster and eat more with the "fast flow" nipples. Hopefully more food at meal times will mean less meal times (specially in the middle of the night/early morning).
I have put away most of Emily's newborn clothes. Most of the newborn stuff was warm clothes, so I put that away last week. Yesterday I put away her newborn onsies, as they are starting to get too short for her. She still has a couple outfits and dresses that are newborn still in her drawer, but all of her onsies are 0-3 months and she is starting to wear the 0-3 month sleep'n'plays.
It's crazy how quickly my babies are growing up!
On another note... God is good and has provided for us once again. First, God provided the money to cover the cost of Brent's new tire! Second, God has provided Brent with more hours at Pat's. He is currently working Friday and Saturday nights delivering for them - last night they asked if he would be willing to pick up another shift, so he is going to start delivering on Monday nights as well. This means another day I am with Kyle and Emily by my self for 12 hours or so, but it also means more money to help pay our bills.
We are continuing to pray that God will show us where He wants us and provide a new ministry for us. We are praying for His will in our lives, but also praying that His will would be closer to Michigan!
Emily has really discovered her voice in the past couple days. Pretty much if she is awake, she's talking. It's kind of funny to listen to. Brent has recorded it on his phone a couple times and then plays it back to her. When he does, she seems to talk back to the recording of herself.
Kyle talks some, but when he does you really have to listen because he isn't very loud most of the time.
When they are laying next to each other and facing each other, they will gibber gabber back and forth together something. It's pretty cute to watch! I will try to get a video of it later and get it posted :)

to counter yesterday's post..
...sick babies. When we were in Michigan, someone got me sick. I then have passed it to both of my children and my husband. Emily and Brent are all better now, put poor Mr. Kyle is still very congested. This morning he was wheezing really bad, so I decided it was time to call the doctor. He has an upper respiratory infection and it pretty much just has to run its course.
The other thing I don't like about being a mommy is washing bottles. This was one of the reasons I wanted to breastfeed...but Kyle doesn't like boobs, so I pump and both babies get my breastmilk in a bottle... and because I am pumping, not only do we have to wash bottles, we also have to wash my pump stuff :(

...is watching my babies fall asleep. There is just something so peaceful about it.
Most of the time Emily will have her eyes wide open looking all around and as soon as she gets a couple good sucks on her pacifier, she's just out.
Kyle has two different ways that make me smile.... Sometimes he's content and playing and is all of a sudden just out! Most of the time though, he knows he needs to go to sleep and fights it. He gets all tense and won't lay still or suck on his pacifier. Finally he will give in and within a matter of seconds, his body relaxes and his eyes roll back in his head, then his eye lids close. It's pretty amazing to watch :)
Take note that I didn't say one of my favorite things about being a mommy was when my babies were sleeping - it was the act of falling asleep that I love.
I enjoy them being awake more than I do them being sleep.
I LOVE playing with Kyle and Emily and watching them laugh and smile.
I love how when they cry it sometimes sounds like they are saying "mamamamamamama" because they need me :)
I love watching Emily try so hard to get Kyle's hand in her mouth, and then getting upset once she succeeds.
I love watching Kyle get Emily's whole ear in his mouth and sucking away - and Emily not caring.
I LOVE watching Kyle and Emily cuddle together.
I love when they fall asleep while they are eating and then have that "milk drunk" smile when the bottles comes out of their mouth.
I love when they both want to cuddle with each other and me at the same time :)
This list could go on and on.... but two someones just woke up and need my attention :)
