Bumbo Seats

I've been waiting to use these - I think they are pretty cool. Once a week or so for the past month maybe I have tried, but Kyle and Emily have still been too small and haven't had enough neck control. I tried again today - and they both sat up well in them and held their heads up for about 15 minutes. They seemed to enjoy sitting up :)

Piggy Piggy

Kyle and Emily are little piggies sometimes... but they got to meet real piggies last Friday. Our friends Bob and Lindsey have two pigs as pets and Brent really wanted the babies to ride the pigs.

Emily didn't ride the pig; she hung out in Lindsey's arms while Dock checked her out.

Kyle on the other hand did get to ride Porkchop! Neither one of them was too sure about the other....

Even though the world didn't end....

Harold Camping was wrong... the rapture didn't happen on May 21, 2011... but for the fun of it, I took this picture :)
Shortly after Brent and I started dating, we were at Aunt Judy and Uncle Randy's house hanging out with Tommy... and Tommy and Brent took several rapture pictures. So I took the picture in honor of my husband :)

The Beach! The Beach! The Beach!

Well... it really was a lake with a little bit of a sandy sore, but because everyone out here makes such a big deal out of "the beach", I thought that I would call it the beach :) We went with some of the people that I used to work with and just hung out and ate good food!

Emily wasn't too sure about the water and then sand. She was okay when her feet were just in the water, but as soon as she felt sand, so cried and pulled her legs up. She's like her mommy, she doesn't like sandy feet!

Kyle didn't seem to mind too much. He kicked a little and dug his feet into the same. He can take barefoot walks on the beach with Grandma while Mommy and Emily were shoes :)

Brent was trying to teach Kyle to fish... he didn't seem all that interested.

And just in case you were wondering.... my kids were covered in sunscreen :) A dermatologist even watched me put in on! So, follow their example and make sure you were sunscreen to prevent skin cancer!

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, and A Flat Tire

Kyle and Emily have been doing great sleeping all week! We've finally got back on a pretty good schedule and they are eating, "playing", and then sleeping during the day, and sleeping lots at night. After they eat, they have been awake and playing for about an hour and a half or so and then they start to get whiny. When they are starting to get whiny, I swaddle them up and put them in their crib - most of the time they are asleep within five minutes! Then they sleep for an hour to and hour and a half. When they wake up, they are ready to eat again. At night, they have been eating between 8:00 and 9:00 and then going to bed. We wake them about between 11:00 and midnight to feed them, and then they sleep for another 7 or 8 hours, wake up to eat, and then go back to sleep for another two hours or so!

Today our schedule got a little thrown off and they seemed to do okay with it. Brent had a flat tire, so I went and switched cars with him for a bit and got his tire replaced for him; it couldn't be fixed:( He had a HUGE bolt on the edge of his tire... Emily's head would have fit through the hole once they got the bolt out!

We are getting excited to go to Michigan next week for Alyssa and Shane's wedding! We are excited to introduce Kyle and Emily to family, but at the same time know it's going to be a very busy and tiring trip! Pray for us to have all the energy we need and that the babies will stay sort of on schedule with eating and naps! (If we are hanging out with you, please don't be mad at me if I say it's nap time and put the babies down for a nap - we don't want to have crabby babies!)

We heard back from the church in Indiana yesterday. They are offering the job to someone else. We are very okay with this! We thought the church was great and that the ministry was an amazing ministry, but we didn't really feel like it was the right fit for us - and apparently they didn't either. We are continuing to pray that God will show us where He want us and are looking forward to seeing what ministry He is preparing for us (and hoping that it will be close to our families).

11 Week Pictures

11 Weeks Old and Sleeping Through the Night!

Kyle and Emily are 11 weeks old today! I can't believe it.... it doesn't seem like it has been that long, but at the same time, it seems like it has been a lot longer :)

The biggest thing to update on is sleep! Both Kyle and Emily are sleeping through the night. We have been feeding them between 8:00 and 9:00 pm and then putting them to get shortly after. We wake them up between 11 and 12 to eat, then put them right back to bed. They then sleep until 6:30 - 7:00 am. Normally I am waking up because my boobs ready really full and when I wake up, they are starting to move around and wake them selves up. They eat, and then go back to sleep until 9:30 or so. It's been pretty much amazing to get more sleep :)

During the day, for naps I have been trying to put Kyle and Emily in their crib to sleep. They normally sleep better and longer in their crib during the day than they do in the bouncy seats or the pack'n'play. Last night we decided to let them sleep in their crib at night. They did amazing :) They kept the same sleep pattern and seemed to make less noise and fall back to sleep faster after eating!

I will post their 11 week pictures later today - after I take them.

Four States in a Day

On both Saturday and then again today, we were in four states! We left Delaware and went to the airport in Maryland, we landed in Kentucky and then drove to Indiana on Saturday and then did the opposite today! Our babies have now been in five states (the ones listed above plus PA) and in a couple weeks, we'll get to add Michigan to their list!

Kyle and Emily did wonderful on the airplane rides. They both pretty much slept the whole time and we tried getting them to eat when we took off and landed. Going through security wasn't a whole lot of fun, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The worst part was hauling the car seats through the airports; they are heavy!

Will post more of an update later about our trip. Brent and I enjoyed getting to know the people at the church and learning about their ministry. Sounds like God is doing good things there!

Leaving On A Jet Plane....

Tomorrow morning we are flying to Indiana to visit a church for an interview! From what we have heard over the phone, this church sounds like it has a great ministry and we feel that God is leading us to go check it out and see for ourselves. We are flying there tomorrow morning. Tomorrow afternoon/evening we will be meeting in a casual setting with some of the people from the church just to talk and for them to get to know us a little bit. On Sunday morning Brent is preaching and then there is a pot luck with the church, followed by an interview with the search committee. Please pray for us as we go through the whole interview process. Also, please pray for save travels for us and for the babies as this is their first big trip!

And for your viewing pleasure... some pictures of Aiden (Modesty and Ryan's son) holding Emily and Kyle. He wasn't too sure what to think!

Two Month Well Baby Visit

Kyle and Emily had their two month well baby visit today. Both are healthy and growing like they should. Kyle is actually on the growth charts now and Emily is just below for their actual age!

Kyle is now 9lbs 4oz and 22 1/2 inches long.

Emily is now 6lbs 14oz and 19 1/2 inches long.

They both are reaching the developmental milestones for their actual age, so they are a little ahead for their adjusted age!

Kyle and Emily also both got shots today :( They did good and didn't cry too much, but they aren't feeling well now. Luckily, Daddy is home too, so they have both Mommy and Daddy to cuddle with!

2 Months Old

A Happier Mother's Day

Last year Mother's Day was a pretty rough day for me. We had been trying to get pregnant for so long and thought we finally made it all work.... but I started my period before church on Mother's Day and was pretty upset by it. Then when I got to church, there was a couple announcing their pregnancy, which as happy as I was for them, I made me more upset about not being pregnant. And then to top it off, someone (who had no idea we were trying to get pregnant) made a joke about me not being able to celebrate mother's day as a mother and that I needed to get working on that... or something along those lines. I think I stayed at church a total of 10 minutes and came back home and say and cried. It was a rough day...

This year on Mother's Day I get to hold my two wonderful little babies :) And celebrate their two month birthday!! (Don't worry... I'll post pictures later)

Kyle even got me a Mother's Day present - a poopy diaper :) I never thought I would be so excited about a poopy diaper - but when the little dude hadn't pooped for almost five days, it's something to celebrate for sure!!

Poop, Spit Up, Milk, and Big Boy Jammies

We have been having poopy issues this week. Kyle has not pooped since Tuesday. Yesterday afternoon he started trying and passing pretty smelly gas. It's normal for breastfed babies not to poop for a day or two sometimes, so I wasn't really concerned until he started trying to poop. I called the doctor this morning and they said that breastfed babies don't get constipated too often, but sometimes need a little help. The nurse told me a couple things to try, so we'll do that and see if it helps Kyle poop.

We have had less spit up between the two of them. We have been not letting them over eat and for the most part they are keeping their food down better. We are still having spit up every once in a while, but it's not every feeding anymore and when they do spit up, it's not as much as it was before.

My milk supply has gone crazy. Most of the time I am producing twice as much as what the babies eat when I pump! Hopefully it keeps up :)

Kyle has official outgrown newborn jammies! His newborn onsies and clothes still fit him, he's just too long for the jammies, so he's now wearing 0-3 months jammies - he's growing up so fast!
